Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and ambitious Workshop Technician to join our team in Exeter.

Exeter Mobility Centre is a leading Orthotic and Prosthetic service, delivering expert care and innovative solutions to improve mobility and independence. Our integrated team of clinicians, administrators, and skilled technicians work together to provide a seamless patient experience. With on‑site manufacturing and a dedicated workshop of 9 technicians, we design and produce bespoke prosthetic and orthotic devices tailored to individual needs ensuring quality and precision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture high‑quality jobs tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment in line with health and safety standards.
  • Manage stock and materials effectively, including accurate booking out and monitoring usage.
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians and technical colleagues to ensure successful patient outcomes.
  • Ensure quality control and timely delivery of all manufactured devices to meet service standards.
Skills and Experience:
  • Effective working within a team.
  • Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the job.
  • Excellent practical skills and experience of using tools and workshop equipment.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Willingness to learn new processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible and helpful attitude.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH.
  • Good understanding of stock and material handling.
  • Previous technical and workshop experience.
  • A sound working knowledge of IT systems: including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
Qualifications:
  • No formal qualifications are required for this post, but a good standard level of education, alongside demonstrated transferable skills.
  • Technical Qualification or Experience.
