Job summary

A leading laboratory services provider in Gateshead is searching for a Laboratory Technician apprentice. You will support the laboratory team by conducting routine oil testing, managing data, and maintaining laboratory standards while pursuing a Level 3 qualification. Ideal candidates will possess GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject, with key skills including the ability to work unsupervised and familiarity with data analysis software. NE8 1NA. To support the laboratory team by performing routine oil testing, data management, and laboratory maintenance, gaining a Level 3 Laboratory Technician qualification through a structured apprenticeship.

Vacancy Description

Principal accountabilities / main tasks:

• Carries out the routine testing requirements.
• Records and archives test data generated.
• Routinely reports testing and highlights any problems or unusual variations, and reports out‑of‑specification results to the relevant people.
• Ensures where possible “Work Requests” are carried out as required.
• Develops and continuously reviews new and existing laboratory procedures.
• Responsible for ensuring that internal and external health, safety & environmental standards are met in terms of both work performance and behavior.
• Ensures the laboratory is a safe place to work in or visit, and that high housekeeping standards are maintained.
• Once trained on specific tasks, the role will involve working under your own initiative at times. Working on all aspects of the laboratory function.
