Transport Planner

Job Reference: JP130

Location: Ashford, Kent

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (DOE)

Contract: Full‑time, Permanent (Hybrid working possible)

This role runs Monday to Friday. It is located in nr. Brabourne, Ashford—driving is essential due to the rural location.

Key responsibilities
  • Plan daily and weekly delivery schedules to optimise vehicle utilisation and use the most efficient routes.
  • Allocate work to drivers and manage rotas, ensuring legal drivers' hours and rest breaks are adhered to.
  • Monitor compliance with driving licence and vehicle documentation requirements.
  • React to operational issues (delays, vehicle breakdowns, traffic) and re‑route as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce regular reports on performance and compliance.
  • Liaise with various teams throughout the company.
What we're looking for
  • Previous transport planning experience with demonstrable experience planning deliveries.
  • Experience managing drivers' hours and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Driving is essential due to the location of the role; you must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with route‑planning/TMS software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and team‑working skills.
