Job description

Smash Padel Oxford is recruiting a Coach to support our Oxford Padel Club. The 3 busy outdoor courts are part of a new expansion development and are currently planning to add a further 3 courts which will be canopied, making it a great 6 court facility with so much potential.

Responsibilities
  • Help deliver the overall strategic management of Smash Padel Oxford, their facilities, programme growth and facility development
  • Help deliver all on-court activities for people of all ages & abilities
  • Help manage the junior pathway and deliver schemes of work for our Smashers & Junior programmes
  • Use your technical & tactical knowledge to help your colleagues develop their padel coaching
  • Help drive commercial performance through an innovative approach: delivering excellent standards and services that meet customer needs and occupancy targets as set out in the objectives for the centre
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including community groups, employees, the LTA and Smash Padel management to ensure the facilities and Padel programmes continue to grow and improve
  • Support the delivery of the Padel programmes across the Smash Padel offering in conjunction with the wider team to ensure programmes are planned and delivered to the highest standards
  • Adopt and implement the Smash Padel inclusive policy to offer Padel to all community groups and players
  • Work with your team to develop initiatives to recruit new customers and create an event calendar that supports maximising court usage
  • Ensure the Smash Padel brand profile and core values are marketed correctly, securing content to promote our services through all media channels with campaigns to drive increased footfall
  • You will be required to work reception and fulfil administration duties as part of the team
Essential qualifications
  • Elite level experience in racket sports as a player or coach
  • Background in team sports as a player, coach or administrator
  • Good standard of IT literacy with the aptitude to self-teach
  • Ability to adapt and change to challenging circumstances, alongside motivation and commitment to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver revenue targets
  • Understand how important the ‘Review’ process is and how to challenge poor performance without impacting relationships and staff motivation
Desirable qualifications
  • Experience of business development planning, goal setting, review process and analysing performance
  • Strong coaching background, preferably in racket sports; ‘How to coach’ is more important than ‘What to coach’
  • Managing governance via the implementation and update of relevant policies, such as safeguarding and health & safety
  • Experience working with a senior management team, providing performance reports, working to KPIs and implementing a ‘shared vision’ strategy
  • Knowledge of local government strategies, student and school sports strategies
  • Digital marketing and its implementation. How to use content to support promotion and advertising
  • Knowledge of how the Long Term Athlete Development cycle works and how an awards-based environment restricts development
