Overview

Director - Quantity Surveyor role at Tetra Tech. Lead and grow the commercial team in the West Midlands, based in our Birmingham office. Cost Consultancy provides cost advice on capital and whole life cost with a focus on carbon reduction. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will work with a high-performance multi-disciplinary team to deliver cost advice to design colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of cost managers
• Employer’s Agent and/or Contract Administration duties for projects in residential, advanced manufacturing, aviation and other private sectors
• Lead in all aspects of Cost Management
• Business Development and Business Planning
• Develop cost plans for complex projects using CostX estimating software
• Advise design colleagues on the cost implications of alternative design options
• Monthly reporting on P&L
• Lead value engineering and risk workshops and provide strategic cost advice
• Provide procurement strategy advice to clients
• Deliver the full range of construction stage cost management services
• Build relationships with design colleagues, client stakeholders and the contractor
• Provide leadership and development support for the team
• Contribute to growth initiatives within the Project & Cost Management business unit

Qualifications and Experience

• Full membership of the RICS/CIOB or +10 years’ experience in a specialist subject area
• Experience using CostX or similar estimating software with Revit models
• Experience on major projects (£50m+)
• Ideally experienced in cost management of NEC3/4 and JCT contracts
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage cost reporting meetings with senior client representatives
• Strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach with large technical teams
• Proven ability to deliver to deadlines
• Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Word)
• UK driving licence
• Willingness to complete SC clearance on appointment (to assist Defence Sector)
