Job summary

A leading global IT services provider seeks a Desktop Support Engineer to provide on-site support in Bristol. The successful candidate will manage the deployment and configuration of desktop and laptop systems, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and support clients in various IT environments. This full-time role includes flexible hours and the potential for overtime. Candidates must meet UK Security clearance requirements and possess strong IT troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

We are currently looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to support one of our clients based on-site in Bristol.

This is a full-time, position working a 37.5-hour week Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will be required to have a flexible approach as overtime and on-call duties may be required.

Due to the customer requirements successful applicants must be eligible for high level UK Security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Desktop / Laptop / VDI build, configuration, deployment to end users
  • Software installation / deployment
  • Asset and peripheral deployments
  • In depth investigation into issues
  • Work as part of a support team with laptop, desktop and VDI terminals support calls
  • Hardware installation / upgrade / break fix for desktop, laptop, and server
  • Smartphone support (Android & iOS)
  • VIP support
  • Assisting with customer projects
  • Occasional travel required around the area to help cover Leave at sites (within a 2hr travel)
What we're looking for
  • Microsoft Windows 10, and 11 Operating Systems – Deployment, configuration, and support
  • Support Microsoft Office 2016 onwards
  • Proven and demonstrable software and hardware troubleshooting skills, experience in a Deskside Support role
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and OS / Application deployment
  • Good verbal communication with an ability to communicate to all levels
  • Good written communication: concise and accurate call logging, documentation, and email correspondence
  • Good time management / organisational skills
  • Work well as part of a team or independently
Desirable skills / qualifications
  • Microsoft Windows 10 and / or 11 training, certification, and experience
  • Legacy Operating Systems
  • Active Directory management
  • Understanding of Microsoft SCCM
  • Experience of Microsoft Entra
  • Experience of Trellix EPO and client side agents
  • Experience of client side Wi‑Fi configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience of Windows Security configuration
  • Experience of client encryption and VPN - Trellix, Bitlocker, Cisco, F5 and Zscaler
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Willing to learn new skills and technologies
  • Clean full driving license
