Job description
Overview

Husky Technologies TM is seeking a candidate for the design and documentation of mold systems, new technologies and new product lines. The role ensures that each order meets Engineering guidelines for successful execution.

Key Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability
  • Lead and complete design execution
  • Understand and leverage automation capabilities to create basis of design features
  • Oversee and review the generation of engineering BOMs for purchasing and production control
  • Ensure automatic generation of stack and shoe component design meets specification
  • Modify generated designs as needed, specifically for complex products
  • Finalize and release components
  • Determine disposition of nonconforming parts

Provide process and design verification support

  • Conduct detailed verification of designs for accuracy across all on-ramp and off-ramp products
  • Work with Automation Designer to maintain automation capabilities (note: individual not responsible for developing automation)
  • Participate in design reviews with Mentor
  • Prepare and check engineering documentation including order intake, change and improvement of project release
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including CAR (Casual Analysis & Resolution) process improvements
  • Initiate corrective action on the disposition of nonconforming parts
Education / Experience / Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Engineering University Degree or College Diploma
  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Proficient with computer systems, including Unigraphics and excellent mechanical drafting skills
  • Knowledge of Baan or similar order fulfillment O/S
  • Understanding of manufacturing, assembly and test processes
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects at a time

Technical capabilities:

  • Ability to create engineering designs by working on full conversions, refurbishing and some specials, accounting for EBOM requirements and design intent. Can perform corrective action and modifications to most designs as necessary.
  • Proficiency with production engineering tools, processes and technologies and fully understand design requirements and how to leverage existing tools, processes and automation technologies to create designs with little guidance.
  • Proficiency in detailed verification of designs by conducting detailed verification for existing products and some specials/new complex designs, ensuring conformance to standards. Can properly troubleshoot and propose corrective actions as necessary.
  • Understanding of automation tools relevant to design execution activities by demonstrating an understanding of automation outputs for non-standard product and some special/complex designs. Identify discrepancies in generated outputs and raises issues as required.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, assembly and test processes by actively participating in design review meetings and highlights improvements which can be made to component manufacturing based on a general understanding of manufacturing, assembly and test processes
  • Ability to work within new product launch (NPL) process by executing designs for new product launches, ensuring conformity to standards while keeping design intent in mind
  • Understanding of ERP flow by demonstrating an understanding of data flows as it pertains to design activities
  • Ability to demonstrate EH&S standards by following EH&S guidelines and standards in all activities, suggesting improvements when possible.
