Job description
Overview

The Design Engineer will primarily be responsible for the provision of technical support to a broad range of internal departments and occasionally external customers. Other duties will include design of components, jigs and fixtures as well as the creation and maintenance of engineering drawings. In-service design modification work may also be undertaken once suitable experience has been gained.

The key goals
  • To provide general technical support to ensure internal functions' issues are overcome in a correct, timely and cost effective manner
  • To create jig, fixture & tool designs and produce technical drawings in a timely manner to meet often demanding schedules
Responsibilities
  • Liaise effectively with Production, QA, Procurement and Manufacturing teams
  • Maintain regular communication and interaction within the workshop areas
  • Produce technically correct designs for jigs, fixtures and special tools as required by manufacturing
  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing drawings to a highly proficient standard for all jigs, fixtures and tools
  • Provide general technical support to in-house issues during manufacture and test
  • Consider and create effective solutions for equipment repair and refurbishment
  • Occasionally provide design/drawing capability for the design team to ease capacity demands and overloads
  • Configuration control of drawing sets
  • Promote Safe Working practices
