Fire and Security Design Engineer

We’re looking for a talented Design Engineer to join our team and deliver advanced Fire and Security solutions that meet key industry standards, including BS5839-1. You’ll design, price, and develop integrated systems using AutoCAD and your knowledge of networking principles to create smart, site‑specific solutions. From concept to tender stage, you’ll bring technical expertise and commercial awareness, confidently presenting innovative ideas to clients.

What You Will Do
  • Design and present Fire Detection, Life Safety, and Security solutions across multiple sites
  • Review and interpret client requirements to create tailored, effective solutions
  • Conduct site surveys and client meetings where required
  • Manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Embrace new technologies and innovative design approaches
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement
Required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Fire and/or Security Design role
  • Knowledge of electronic security systems (CCTV, Access Control)
  • Understanding of BS5839‑1 or equivalent NSI practice
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience in fast‑paced, collaborative environments
  • Must have lived in the UK continuously for the past 5 years (for vetting clearance)
Preferred
  • Site experience, including surveying and attending client/design meetings
  • FIA Advanced Fire Design certification
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience with 3D design tools such as Navisworks or Revit
