As Depot Operative, you’ll take part in the planning and production of signage, the loading/unloading pallets, cages and vehicles using a forklift truck on an irregular basis. You also be stripping and cleaning signs that have been returned to the production hub and driving an AA Signs van or rental van for delivery/collection purposes.

What will I be doing?
  • Ensure that all machinery, traffic management equipment, signage, racking, benches and pallets are clean and tidy and fit for purpose.
  • Carry out basic day to day operator maintenance for the depot FLT and to maintain associated records.
  • Safely operate the depot FLT and also the pallet truck for transporting heavy loads around the production hub.
  • Prepare all signs held in stock or being returned from deployment to make them ready for re-use using the prescribed method of cleaning.
  • Application of laminate wording, patches and symbols to sign plate, ensuring the layout of the sign is strictly in accordance with the schedule or drawings.
  • Check that all the required signs/traffic management equipment etc are loaded to the exact requirements for each job being delivered or collected.
  • Direct and support the activity of temporary/zero hours/agency staff team members working in the production hub.
  • Ensure that the workshop environment remains clean and tidy and that waste products are correctly disposed of in accordance with guidance.
  • When conducting deliveries or collections to site, the vehicle is loaded in accordance with the AA Signs Safe Operating Procedure, the load is secure and the vehicle is not overloaded.
  • Assist other areas of AA commercial businesses where appropriate and directed.
What do I need?

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Self-motivated, self-reliant and hard working.
  • Good flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Must hold full UK driving license (Category B).
  • Must be physically fit to carry out a role that may involve heavy lifting on a daily basis.
  • Ability and willingness to work, when necessary, to fit in line with the event industry which can include weekends and times outside of normal business hours.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Basic IT skills (MS Office and role specific applications)
  • Hold a valid FLT licence, (ideally a “bendi” licence) and have experience of working with this type of machine in a warehouse environment - desirable but not essential
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
