Job Role: Design Engineer

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum
Location: Desborough, Northamptonshire
Hours: 8:30–17:00 Mon–Thu, 9:30–17:00 Fri
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

The Company

Interaction Technical have partnered with a market-leading manufacturer of waste management equipment in their search for experienced Design Engineers to join their growing team. Our client is well-established within the industry and is experiencing significant growth, expanding their projects department to meet demand.

The Role
  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings and specifications using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for company products, including conveyors, structural steel, and ancillary equipment.
  • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the company ERP system.
  • Ensure drawing quality, continuity, and compliance with relevant directives.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and sales teams to ensure designs meet business requirements.
  • Review and improve existing designs, including site visits to assess installed products.
  • Lead projects effectively, providing engineering support and mentoring team members.
  • Carry out cost analysis for new projects and ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
The Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Design or Project Engineer within structural steel or similar industries (essential).
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings and specifications (essential).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD (advantageous).
  • Background in steel fabrication and sheet metal work (advantageous).
  • Relevant qualifications in design engineering (HNC or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong organisational skills, creativity, and ability to work as part of a team.
