A leading charity for Deaf individuals is seeking a full-time Specialist Support Worker in Leeds. The role involves supporting clients with independent living skills and emotional needs, specifically those with deafness and complex mental health conditions. Applicants should have experience or a willingness to learn British Sign Language (BSL), excellent communication skills, and a history in supported living or care services. Qualifications

  • Experience with deaf clients and willingness to learn BSL.
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of complex mental health.
  • Experience in residential care or supported living environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients with independent living skills and emotional needs.
  • Monitor medication and maintain client safety and dignity.
  • Act as a key worker to individual clients.

Skills

Experience of working with varying degrees of deafness
British Sign Language (BSL) or willingness to learn
Excellent communications skills
Experience of working with Learning Disabilities/Mental Health
Experience in supported living or residential care
Experience with PMVA or willingness to train
