Job description
Come and join our Business Intelligence team within Finance as a Data Manager!

You’ll be part of a fast-paced evolving team, with lots of interesting projects ahead.

This role ensures Wickes has a single ‘version of the truth’, enabling consistent reporting from the Data Lake through defining KPIs, owning master data and financial assurance.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Work collaboratively across the business to ensure data governance and compliance standards are met in line with company standards.
  • Support the development of comprehensive policies and frameworks for consistent data working practices.
  • To support the BI Dev team with scoping activities for all data changes and projects.
  • Master data management in the data lake, working with various teams across the business to assure data accuracy for all data points outside of the data lake that require manual data inputs to the data lake. Craft and maintain policies related to master and reference data management.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to identify and drive more efficient technologies and business processes.
  • Deliver data quality assurance, ensure data accuracy and confidentiality are present throughout data processes and systems.
What we’re looking for:

We anticipate you’ll have 5+yrs BI / data experience and relevant professional or industry training including advanced SQL & Data Analysis. You’ll be an expert with BI Tools, and have strong documentation skills and the ability to translate IT into layman's terms. You’ll be a confident communicator capable of owning projects E2E with strong acumen for business analysis and user engagement. As well as this you’ll have:

  • Project Management / Data Governance & Change management experience
  • Functional and technical understanding and competence in the Google reporting and data warehouse architecture.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases and building basic and complex queries.
  • Experience training other non finance users
  • Good team working and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of data integrity, data quality issues, and end-to-end data flows
  • Experience using cloud data warehouse technologies and are confident working with large datasets (e.g. BigQuery)
  • Experience in the management, capture, definition, development, agreement, delivery, and documentation of user information requirements within a maintainable and supportable information environment.
  • Be highly articulate, personable and engaging
  • Well organised, flexible and responsive to competing priorities
  • Proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and follow through to completion
  • Star and snowflake schema modelling desirable
