This role requires you to be on site 5 days a week, with travel (inc. some overnight stays) to other operational sites as and when required.

About the role

This role provides first-line management of National Gas Services (NGS) staff and contractors, ensuring safety leadership, customer focus, and technical expertise. You’ll deliver cost-effective, customer-focused operations supporting activities such as recompression, mechanical work, and under pressure operations for NGT and external customers.

What you’ll be doing
  • Managing and supervising day-to-day operational activities, including job packs and RAMS.
  • Ensuring safe setting to work in line with safe control of operations procedures and lead safety investigations.
  • Overseeing planned work and maintenance to deliver efficient, cost-effective services.
  • Supporting new business activities through technical input, quotations, and business cases.
  • Leading multi-disciplined site teams, conduct audits, competency reviews, and performance management.
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation to meet KPIs and financial targets.
  • Attending pre-start/HAZCON meetings and fulfil standby duties for CEME services.
  • Ensuring pipeline questionnaires and technical data are completed for customers.
  • Managing modification/management of change activities.
About you

You'll be experienced in leading others with strong technical knowledge of high-pressure gas operations and a commitment to safety and performance excellence. You'll have the ability to combine operational planning skills with the ability to engage teams, manage resources effectively, and deliver results within budget and timescales.

Key requirements & experience
  • Minimum HNC/ONC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline or have extensive relevant experience
  • Technical knowledge and experience of high-pressure operations
  • Understanding of legislative requirements, company policies, and CDM regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of SCO procedures (SCO1 & 2 / 91 & 94) and ability to act as Job Owner
  • Operational planning and resource management experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Managing Safely - desirable
  • Knowledge of DSEAR & ATEX - desirable
  • Full UK car driving licence
