Crate Maker
Hours: Full time, 40hrs per week, Monday-Friday
Location: Aberdeen
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Our busy Aberdeen Timber Workshop manufactures industrial Timber & Plywood Crates for use by the oil and gas industry. This is a fast-paced and physically demanding work environment.

What we are looking for

As a Crate Maker, you will manufacture and assemble Timber and Plywood crates and products according to specifications and requirements of our customers.

Your role is key in maintaining quality and meeting production goals in a fast and demanding manufacturing workshop. This role requires flexibility to work overtime at short notice and be available to travel and stay away from home during on-site packing jobs whenever required.

Key responsibilities
  • Adaptability – Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Quality Control – Carry out Quality Checks to ensure products consistently meet specified quality standards
  • Manual handling – Safely and efficiently perform manual handling tasks as part of daily operations
  • Housekeeping – Maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and organisation within the work area to ensure a safe and efficient environment
  • Health and Safety Compliance – Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
  • T wood er and Plywood Manufacturing – Build timber and plywood crates tailored to specific customer requirements
  • Forklift Operation – Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and transport finished products. Adhere to safety standards and daily checks to maintain a secure work environment
  • Team Support – Assist colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient production processes
Knowledge and skills required
  • Experience in the timber crating industry or a background in woodwork is essential
  • Awareness of Health and Safety principles
  • Excellent technical skills – proficient in working with woodworking tools, machinery and equipment
  • Forklift Licence – B1 Counterbalance certification is essential. M1 Licence desirable

  • Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A practical hand-on approach
  • Full UK Driving License
