Overview

The Control and Instrumentation Engineer supports Mobile Water Solutions by bridging technical expertise between commercial and operational teams. You will support commercial teams by identifying and specifying electrical and control system requirements for project implementation. Additionally, you will assist operations by contributing to commissioning packs and ensuring system readiness. A core responsibility of the role includes managing and maintaining PLC software and control systems across the mobile fleet, implementing updates, modifications, and addressing obsolescence to ensure continued reliability and performance of control systems. This is a cross-functional role requiring strong technical knowledge, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication. The Control and Instrumentation Engineer reports to the Global Technical Director. The role is home-based with occasional international travel to support as required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Control Systems Engineering: Develop new PLC programs and optimize existing ones; design, specify, and implement control systems in coordination with engineering teams; collaborate with Process Engineers to create functional descriptions; monitor process parameters and generate performance reports both internally and externally; ensure equipment operation aligns with client requirements; provide remote monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive analytics.
  • Technical Support: Assist in delivering technical support to field service operations and commercial teams; support troubleshooting during commissioning and maintenance; prepare commissioning documentation and technical SOPs; provide technical guidance and assist with equipment selection; participate in product development initiatives.
  • Compliance & HSE: Strictly follow Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures; contribute to continuous improvement in safe working practices; oversee the execution of special projects in the region, including the development of new assets and IX regeneration facilities.
  • Safety: Ensure adherence to QHSE policies and standards by fostering a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace, actively promoting safety initiatives, and complying with regulatory requirements; report incidents, near-misses, or hazards promptly and assist in investigations; oversee the execution of special projects including the development of new assets and regeneration facilities.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Follow the Net Zero Commitment of the Saur Group; engage in socially responsible actions, maintain high standards of social and environmental performance, take responsibility to protect health and safety of all employees, and incorporate social and environmental impact into daily decision making.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Control Engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the water industry.
  • Proficiency with Siemens PLC programming.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and IT skills.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality service to customers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Full UK driving license.
