Compassionate Neighbours provide social and emotional support and companionship to people experiencing loneliness or social isolation due to living with a life-limiting illness or bereavement.
After training, Compassionate Neighbours are matched with individuals based on location, interests, and character to foster genuine, mutually beneficial friendships.
We particularly need volunteers in:
Opportunity Type: Long-term Commitment
Districts: Dacorum, Hertsmere, St Albans, Three Rivers, Watford
Start Date: 10/10/2024
End Date: 30/12/2025
Location: From home
Time of day: Weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings; Weekend full and half days
Practical considerations: Volunteers are matched locally and should be able to travel by walking or public transport. Accessibility for wheelchair users or those with restricted mobility will be discussed individually.
Requirements: DBS check required; 18+ years old
Suitable for: 18–25 year olds, 26 and over, university students, older adults, people with visual impairments or restricted mobility, rehabilitation-friendly individuals
Focus areas: End of Life, Bereavement & Hospices, Isolation & Loneliness
Accessibility: No wheelchair access at the location
