Contract Hours: 37 hours per week including occasional weekend or evening work
Full time staff are entitled to 23 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays (8 days) and 2 additional (statutory) days, and four privilege days (29 days plus bank holidays). An increase of 3 days is applied following 5 years’ continuous service (32 days plus bank holidays). The post is eligible to join the Superannuation Local Government Scheme

Job Purpose
To assist in the creation of the Town Council’s Community Engagement Strategy.
To manage the delivery of the Town Council’s programme of community engagement through the creation of press releases, surveys, resident consultations, website content, newsletters, adverts, social media posts, photographs, video and other creative materials.
To lead on the management of all stakeholders for, and help co-ordinate the programme for, Town Council-run events such as Seasonal Markets, Remembrance Day Parade and Christmas Lights Event Switch-on.
To recruit, train and manage a pool of volunteers in order to build a network of support for the Town Council, including but not limited, support for Council- run events, litter picking activities, participation in the Council’s Community Emergency Response Team.
To act as a first point of contact as a receptionist during Council opening hours.
To provide information and advice to customers of Sandy Town Council in person at the Council’s offices, via email and over the telephone.
Job Description
Planning and running the Council’s Community Market. Including all stakeholder management such as booking vendors for stalls and issuing invoices, ensuring social media coverage and publicity running up to the event, and managing the event on the day and gathering stakeholder feedback to report back to the Events Working Group.
Managing Content on the Council website and social media platforms, ensuring all information is current and up to date, composing other publicity materials and social media posts.
Dealing with reception, telephone and web enquiries on a daily basis providing a positive first impression of the Council and complying with the Town Council’s agreed customer service standard by directing enquiries to the relevant subject matter expert.
Providing information about the council, its services and the locality
Working with the Administrative Team Leader and Town Clerk to implement the council’s administrative operating procedures including managing and composing correspondence, ordering, receiving cash payments, diary management and premises bookings, photocopying, post management, shredding, room preparation, provision of refreshments etc.
Supporting the co-ordination of and attending community events such as consultation meetings, Christmas lights switch on and one-off events etc.
Designing and circulating resident mechanisms to support resident feedback, analysis of data and creating reports for the Town Clerk/Council Members.
To administrate the meetings of the Event Working Group including creation and circulation of agendas, reports and meeting minutes.
Promoting the Roman Sandy Exhibition and providing information to visitors viewing the exhibition.
Maintaining the Council’s records respecting confidential information
Preparing mailing lists and mail merges and updating databases
When required provide administrative support to committees and working groups as assigned. This may include the preparation of agendas, reports and minutes pertaining to those meetings and demand attendance at evening meetings from time to time.
Undertake Fire Warden duties including managing regular checks of fire safety equipment in the office as well as organising fire evacuation training for staff and Members.
Allotment Management
Handling incoming and outgoing post, franking and delivery of items to the Post Office.
Providing administrative cover for colleagues when necessary and deputising during their absence
Participate in on-going training and learning.
Practice and promote fair and equal treatment of colleagues and customers throughout the performance of all duties.
