Commis Chef

Salary: From £12.60ph plus £1,000 welcome bonus

Contract: Full Time

Location: Richmond Village, Aston on Trent, Derby, DE72 2EA

Shifts: Predominantly 9‑5pm with occasional late night events & alternate weekends

  • Starter Bonus: One‑off £1,000 paid on the next available pay run after completion of four weeks’ service, subject to tax and NI deductions. Ts&Cs apply.

Richmond Village in Aston on Trent is looking to appoint a new Commis Chef to join our team. This role blends culinary skill with a balanced lifestyle, offering a harmonious work‑life rhythm and the chance to impact residents’ lives through high‑quality food across a variety of dining settings, including an 80‑cover restaurant, a 40‑cover bistro/café bar, a 40‑cover clubhouse café and three care‑home dining rooms.

Responsibilities
  • Cater to residents, visitors and the public across the village.
  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations against a set menu to a consistent and high‑quality standard.
  • Deliver front‑of‑house services to customers ensuring consistent standards.
  • Work within the extensive HACCP framework tailored to a health‑care environment.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic working area.
  • Respond to residents’ and customers’ dietary needs and personal preferences.
Key Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience working in high‑volume, multi‑service, quality kitchens across diverse cuisines and techniques.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally supported by an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent City & G & Guilds and CIEH certification and demonstrable cooking skills.
  • Innovative yet organized approach to cooking, maintaining high standards and remaining calm during a busy service.
  • Adaper to working with others and collaborating to deliver an excellent dining experience.
  • Completion of a DBS check (cost £40 covered by Bupa).
