A family-run steel manufacturing firm based in Tranent is seeking a CNC operator to support the processing of large steel plates for major infrastructure projects. The role offers stable, full-time employment with competitive salary, overtime options, and benefits including extra holidays after five years. While prior CNC experience is preferred, full training will be provided. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in steel manufacturing and a reliable work ethic, contributing to a team environment.
Based at our steel manufacturing facility in Tranent, East Lothian, this role supports the cutting and processing of large steel plates and sections used in pylons, substations, and major UK infrastructure projects. It’s hands‑on, practical work in a busy workshop.
We’re looking for someone with some prior CNC knowledge or exposure, gained through work, college, training, or an apprenticeship, and a genuine interest in CNC machinery.
We’ll provide full training on our machines and processes to get you up to speed and feeling confident.
We offer a range of shift options, subject to availability:
Day shift: Monday to Thursday, 7.00am–5.15pm
Weekend shift: Friday to Sunday, 7.00am–5.30pm
Night shift: Monday to Thursday, 8.45pm–7.00am
You’ll have some CNC knowledge, a strong interest in steel manufacturing, detail, and a reliable work ethic. You’re happy working as part of a team, following instructions, and taking pride in doing the job right.
