Responsibilities

  • Contribute to implementing DevOps practices, toolchains and methodologies aligned with the company’s IT vision.

Skills

Infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS-CDK
Database management with MySQL/SQL
Bash, Python, or TypeScript scripting
Monitoring and observability with Grafana/Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, New Relic
Version control with Git
Security practices including firewalls, ACLs, antivirus tools, encryption protocols, IAM

Overview

Salary: £50,000 - £59,000 per annum

Employment type: Permanent

Hours per week: 37

Reporting into: Cloud Platform Manager

Department: IT

Note: This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require little to no travel into our Coventry head office or local campus. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

About the Opportunity

This DevOps role sits within the Cloud Platform team as part of the wider IT Department. The Team is responsible for implementing DevOps practices, toolchains and methodologies that are central to delivering the company's IT vision and strategic goals. This team contribute directly to enhancing the stability, security and scalability of our systems through automation and a focus on continuous, iterative improvement. The wider IT team is made up of around 60 employees with a vast range of skills from Software Development to IT Operations and IT Security. Our IT Department values employee development and we have lots of great examples of employee progression and promotions within the team.

Your Responsibilities
  • Contribute to implementing DevOps practices, toolchains and methodologies aligned with the company’s IT vision and strategic goals.
  • Enhance stability, security and scalability of systems through automation and continuous improvement.
  • Work with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and automation to provision and manage environments.
Qualifications
  • Infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS-CDK.
  • Database management with MySQL/SQL.
  • Bash, Python, or TypeScript scripting.
  • Monitoring and observability with Grafana/Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, New Relic.
  • Version control with Git.
  • Security practices including firewalls, ACLs, antivirus tools, encryption protocols, IAM, and cloud compliance.
  • DevOps environment experience with CI/CD pipelines and IaC.
  • Git-based workflows and GitOps.
  • AWS services (EC2, EKS, VPC, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route53, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS).
  • Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Linux system deployment and maintenance.
  • Designing scalable cloud architectures for high-traffic and large-scale data storage.
  • Troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure issues.
Desirable skills
  • AWS Certifications (Associate, Professional).
  • Microsoft Azure Certifications (Associate, Expert).
  • Core software development principles, including design patterns and architecture.
  • PHP and PHP frameworks.
  • Front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience with security frameworks (PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001).
  • Agile methodologies and sprint-related releases.
  • Azure services for cloud management and integration.
