# Clinical Lead(UK Visa Sponsorship)### Job Description## About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Clinical Lead to join the Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) inpatient team at Springwood Unit, Malton. This six-month secondment offers an excellent opportunity for a registered mental health or learning disability nurse to step into a senior leadership role within a specialist dementia care environment.Springwood is a 14-bedded inpatient ward providing care for people living with dementia who also experience significant frailty, complex needs, vulnerabilities, and behaviours that challenge. Many of our patients are transferred from assessment and treatment wards across North Yorkshire, often following unsuccessful care home placements or when extended inpatient treatment is required.The ward’s focus is on positive behaviour support, ongoing assessment, and the development of person-centred treatment and support plans that accompany patients through discharge and into their next home environment.### Your Key ResponsibilitiesAs Clinical Lead, you will play a central role in maintaining high standards of care while supporting the ongoing development of the ward and its staff. Working closely with the Ward Manager, your responsibilities will include:* Providing visible, compassionate clinical leadership within the ward environment* Supporting and mentoring nursing staff and students, fostering professional growth and confidence* Delivering and overseeing person-centred, evidence-based care for people living with dementia* Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across North Yorkshire and the wider Trust* Supporting carers and families, ensuring they feel informed, involved, and supported* Promoting safe practice through effective clinical risk assessment, safeguarding, and governance* Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and service development* Providing or facilitating clinical supervision to staff* You will be supported through regular supervision, access to training, and development opportunities as part of a growing and evolving service.### About the TrustTees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) provides mental health and learning disability services across County Durham and Darlington, Teesside, North Yorkshire, York, and Selby.The Trust delivers care across the full pathway—from early intervention and prevention to crisis and specialist inpatient services—working in close partnership with patients, families, carers, and community organisations.TEWV is built on a commitment to:* Listening to and involving people in their own care* Supporting recovery and independence* Reducing inequalities in mental health provision* Delivering compassionate, safe, and effective services#### Essential QualificationsApplicants must have:* Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as RMNH or RNLD* Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)* Recognised Practice Supervisor / Practice Assessor or equivalent (or willingness to achieve within 6 months)* Training in clinical supervision, or willingness to undertake this within 6 months#### Essential ExperienceYou will need to demonstrate:* At least 18 months post-qualification experience, including completion of preceptorship or equivalent competency framework* Experience working collaboratively with service users and their families or carers* Experience providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups* Experience supervising or assessing students in practice* Effective multidisciplinary team working* Involvement in quality improvement activities* Essential Knowledge and Skills**Applicants must show:**Postgraduate-level understanding of evidence-based practice within their field**Strong knowledge of key legislation, including:*** Mental Health Act 1983* Mental Capacity Act 2005* A detailed understanding of Safeguarding principles and application in practice* Competence in clinical risk assessment and management* Understanding of clinical governance and quality assurance* Knowledge of psychological models of care and treatment* Working knowledge of medicines management, including injectable medication#### Pre-Employment and Legal RequirementsAppointment to this role is subject to:* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance* Right-to-work checks and confirmation of UK professional registration* Overseas criminal record checks where applicable* Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be considered in line with UK Visas and Immigration guidance:Informal visits to the ward are warmly encouraged and can be arranged prior to application.
