# Clinical Associate Professor (UK Visa Sponsorship)### Job Description## The OpportunityBrighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is inviting applications from experienced, practising General Practitioners for a senior clinical academic appointment at Associate Professor or Professor level in General Practice.This role sits within the Department of Primary Care & Public Health and is central to strengthening BSMS’s teaching, research, and leadership in general practice. You will join a vibrant academic community and contribute to shaping the future of primary care education, research, and workforce development at local, national, and international levels.Senior clinical academic roles at Associate Professor level and above carry responsibility for academic leadership, contribution to strategic planning, and active involvement in the management and development of the School and wider University.### What You Will Do**Research and Academic Leadership**You will lead your own programme of high-quality research and contribute to the wider research culture of the department. We particularly welcome applicants whose research aligns with BSMS’s key strengths, including:* Global health and infectious disease* Cancer* Mental health* Health inequalities* Population health and prevention* Health of coastal communitiesYou will work closely with colleagues across BSMS and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) regions of Kent, Surrey, and Sussex, supporting and enabling research engagement within primary care settings.At Professorial level, you will be expected to demonstrate sustained excellence and impact in research, innovation, education, and leadership, with a national and international profile in your field.#### Teaching and EducationYou will play a leading role in delivering and developing general practice teaching across the undergraduate BMBS curriculum and postgraduate programmes. This includes:* Providing research-led teaching* Supporting student learning and assessment* Enhancing the visibility and quality of general practice across the curriculumYou will also support and encourage student-led general practice activities, career development, and placements, working with GP colleagues beyond BSMS to expand placement opportunities, Student Selected Components, and fourth-year Individual Research Project supervision.#### Clinical PracticeThe postholder will be expected to maintain 0.2 FTE clinical practice within a local GP setting and hold an appropriate honorary contract with NHS England or another relevant NHS body. This clinical component ensures the role remains firmly grounded in contemporary general practice.### About YouYou will be a practising GP with a strong academic track record appropriate to Associate Professor or Professor level.
