About Heard

Heard is an award-winning charity that works with people, the media and organisations to inspire stories and communication that change hearts and minds.

For over 15 years, we’ve supported storytellers, campaigners and cultural influencers to transform how complex social justice issues are understood — reaching tens of millions ofideal people each year.

Climate Stories That Work is Heard’s largest programme. It focuses on improving how climate change is communicated in mainstream media and culture by moving away from guilt, shame and doom, and towards narratives that are engaging, human and audience-first. The programme works across TV, training and trusted messengers to help climate stories show up more effectively in everyday media and public conversation.

The Role

We’re looking for a Programme Coordinator to support the delivery of the Climate programme. This is a varied, hands‑on role, working across multiple strands of activity including TV delivery, training, events, and trusted messenger work.

You’ll play a key role in coordinating activity, tracking progress and supporting high-quality delivery. You’ll be organising workshops and events, preparing materials, supporting research, and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders including media organisations, partners, funders and creative professionals.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, collaborative and comfortable juggling multiple priorities, and who is motivated by contributing to long‑term social and narrative change.

Further details about the role, responsibilities, and person specification can be found in the full job pack below.

How to Apply
Application deadline is 9am, Wednesday 21st January
Here’s more info about the form and application process

Email info@heard.org.uk if the form or any part of the application process is not accessible to you (or if for any reason you are unable to set up a Google account).

The form will ask you to upload your CV, and ask you three application questions. We do not ask you to write a cover letter – just to answer these questions.

There are the three application questions (each with a 1,000‑character limit, which is roughly 150 – 300 words):
  • Tell us about a time you coordinated a project, programme, event, or set of activities with multiple moving parts.
  • This role involves researching information and turning it into clear, useful materials (such as slide decks, briefings, or written summaries). Please share an example of when you researched a topic and presented your findings for others to use.
  • What interests you about this role and about working on the Climate Stories That Work programme at Heard? You do not need prior experience in climate or narrative change, we are interested in what draws you to the work and how your skills and experiences would contribute.

We will give equal weighting to the CV and the three application questions when we review applications.

We will review the questions anonymously to counter unconscious bias.

In the form, we’ll also ask about any adjustments or support you may need to ensure the recruitment process feels inclusive to you.

Here’s what will happen after you submit your application:

If your application is taken forwards to the next stage, we will interview online on Monday 9th and 11th of February.

If you are unavailable for the interview dates, we will do our best to accommodate you.

We try our best to make our interviews friendly and welcoming. We will let you know the type of questions we’ll ask in advance, and who you’ll be meetingザ, to help you feel comfortable and prepared. We will do whatever we can to ensure you feel confident and welcome in the space.

We will try to let you know as soon as possible whether or not you have been invited to interview. If you are invited to interview, we will always aim to provide some feedback.

We look forward to hearing from you – best of luck!
