Job summary

A leading UK construction firm is seeking a Skilled Operative responsible for maintaining plant and equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and carrying out essential civil engineering tasks. The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in concreting, drainage, and machinery operation. A full driving license, necessary safety certifications, and relevant NVQ qualifications are required. This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team while contributing to vital construction projects across various sites.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant and equipment in good condition.
• Ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
• Check accuracy of delivery tickets and correct any inaccuracies with the Site Foreman.
• Maintain job competence and update current practices.
• Ensure a safe working environment and Health and Safety standards.
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Ensure proper storage of materials and waste minimization.
• Deploy and maintain spill kits where necessary.
• Leave sites clean and tidy upon completion.
• Supervise General Operatives or Trainees as required.
• Report training needs or ticket renewals to the Foreman/HR.
• Address suspected errors/concerns to the Site Foreman.
• Report security and traffic management issues to the Site Foreman.
• Work efficiently and ensure site tidiness.
• Operate equipment within required competence and certification.
• Carry out designated tasks as instructed by the Site Foreman.
• Deliver a variety of civil-based skills.
• Work effectively as part of a team.
• Treat all individuals with courtesy and respect.
• Flexibility to undertake duties outside outlined responsibilities.
