Job description
Responsibilities

Chartered Building Surveyor

  • Conduct building surveys and condition assessments across commercial property portfolios.
  • Prepare reports on building conditions, defects, and recommended remedial actions.
  • Assist in the provision of Reinstatement Cost Assessments.
  • Advise clients on property maintenance, refurbishment, and renovation projects.
  • Undertake defect diagnosis and recommend remedial solutions with the support of the wider team.
  • Prepare specifications for relevant maintenance and refurbishment/ renovation projects as well as any other projects
  • Manage building projects from inception to completion, including budgeting and contractor coordination, and acting as Contract Administrator.
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental legislation.
  • Carry out measured surveys and produce CAD drawings or specifications.
  • Undertake survey work including Pre-acquisition, Exit and Maintenance Survey.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Support a Party Wall Surveyor on neighbourly matters
  • Support with the production and negotiation of Schedules of Dilapidations

In addition to the above you will also be expected to be able to:

  • Prepare reports, specifications, and schedules of work on a wide range of projects including more complex projects.
  • Provide advice on property acquisition, lease agreements
  • Acting as Employers Agent for relevant projects.
  • Act as a Party Wall Surveyor and provide advice relating to neighbourly matters.
  • Act as a CDM Principal Designer/ CDM Advisor.
  • Provide dilapidation advice and negotiate settlements.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and statutory bodies.
  • Mentor and supervise junior surveyors and graduates.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards.
General
  • Uphold the Firm’s values at all times during both internal and external dealings.
  • Proactively seek out and attend relevant networking events in order to nurture and grow the Firm’s client contacts with the view to generating growth.
  • Consistently produce high quality work which, at a minimum, meets client’s expectations. In addition, work collaboratively with third parties as appropriate.
  • Willingly share relevant and appropriate knowledge with colleagues and support their development as required.
Qualities and Qualifications
  • Be a Chartered Building Surveyor with the RICS, ideally with, 1+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) for the Chartered Building Surveyor role and 3+ years PQE for the Senior Chartered Building Surveyor role.
  • Fluent with all Microsoft packages and relevant to the role IT packages.
  • A highly motivated commercial approach, with ability to work as part of a team and be a self-starter working on your own initiative.
  • Have strong research, analytical skills, and reporting skills.
  • Have resilience to work under pressure; have excellent prioritisation, time management, negotiation and organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills and, deliver information clearly and succinctly.
  • Be proactive and receptive to change, hold a positive ‘can do’ attitude and uphold the highest level of professionalism at all times.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.
Primary Location

The role will be based within the Bristol office. However, due to the nature of our business you may be required to work in other offices from time to time.
