Job summary

A local education authority is seeking a Casual Bus Driver to assist with student transport across designated schools in the region. Casual Bus Driver Position

Celtic Family of Schools

The Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education invites applications for BUS DRIVERS for the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education encompassing Colchester, East Hants, Pictou, and Cumberland Counties (Cobequid, Celtic, Nova and Chignecto Families of Schools).

Casual as needed basis, with no guaranteed hours of work.

Rate of Pay: $28.82/hr. as per the CCRCE/CUPE Collective Agreement.

  • Minimum of Grade 12 high school diploma or academic equivalent Diploma (GED).
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License, Class 2B with Air Certification;
  • Provide a satisfactory Driver Abstract (obtained from the Registry of Motor Vehicles), as applicable.

Run times vary by location, but start and end fall within the following times:

  • Morning pick-up and drop-off of students; 6:30am to 9:30am approximately.
  • Afternoon pick-up and drop-off of students 1:45pm to 4:45 pm approximately.

All employees require a criminal record check of the vulnerable sector. The CCRCE requires an original check dated within six (6) months from your date of hire. If you are selected for hire you will be provided with a letter from the CCRCE to take your local Police/RCMP Detachment to have this check completed.

The criminal record check of the vulnerable sector along with the child abuse register check will be reviewed in accordance with the CCRCE policies and procedures.

Note:

Location of school bus parking as determined by the Centre for Education, bus runs/routes, and assignment of additional duties are subject to change at any time at the discretion of the employer.

Where needed, prospective candidates will be required to successfully complete the Driver Training Program conducted by Pupil Transportation staff before commencing employment in any Bus Driver position.
