Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for procurement and category management? We are seeking a skilled Category Manager to lead our category initiatives, optimise our supply chain, and drive value across our organisation. The main focus of this role will revolve around the Capital & Construction category.

The Category Manager plays a critical role in leading the procurement and contract management efforts for specific categories of goods or services within Great British Nuclear. Leveraging extensive knowledge of procurement best practices and strategic problem-solving skills, you will optimize cost, quality, and delivery for essential goods and services. This role will encompass key aspects of contract mobilisation and management, contributing to a reliable and sustainable supply chain for nuclear projects.

Please note, this is a 6-month fixed term contract.

Day to Day Duties:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of market dynamics within assigned categories, including supplier capabilities, pricing trends, and potential supply chain risks.
  • Take responsibility for system-level commercial management of relevant categories and contracts, ensuring compliance with policies and maintaining an accurate pipeline and contract register.
  • Proactively identify and elevate potential supply chain disruptions for timely resolution.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and projects aligned with category management objectives for designated categories.
  • Analyse procurement data to identify issues and propose solutions, ensuring adherence to budget, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Manage the full procurement process from market engagement through sourcing to contract award and administration.
  • Oversee contract creation, negotiation, and administration, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements within the nuclear sector.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, legislative, and policy requirements in procurement and contract management activities.
  • Develop and manage productive relationships with stakeholders across functions to facilitate effective commercial and contract management services.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier information, and contract documents, adhering to filing and data management protocols.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Demonstrated experience in category management, with the ability to develop category strategies based on data-driven methodologies and market engagement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a quick learning ability to address procurement and contract management challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and professional engagement with suppliers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiar with procurement software tools and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to strategise, plan and manage commercial outcomes, including sourcing and contract management, to optimise commercial outcomes.
  • Commercial knowledge and experience across the full commercial lifecycle, with public sector procurement experience being beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Ideally MCIPS qualified or actively working towards the qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience of public sector procurement is beneficial but not essential.
