What you’ll be responsible for

Our Cartref programme helps customers identify and resolve common internal leaks, such as faulty toilets, while educating them on how to use water more efficiently. In this role, you will support the delivery of the Cartref programme by carrying out minor plumbing repairs, promoting water efficiency awareness, and fitting water‑saving products.

  • Responsible for undertaking plumbing repairs in domestic and non‑domestic properties (e.g. toilet, tap and trough repairs) that align with the Cartref principles in a safe and competent manner that provides excellent customer service.
  • Deliver behaviour‑changing education to customers on water efficiency to encourage a reduction in customer demand and drive the efficient use of water within our customer base.
  • Install basic water efficiency products within customer properties (hose guns, shower heads) on water efficiency visits.
  • Represent Welsh Water in the community (ad‑hoc) to promote Water Efficiency as well as other Welsh Water support schemes.
  • Reporting on your delivery outputs through our corporate system in a compliant and accurate manner.
  • Reviewing customer report videos and updating corporate systems in a timely manner.
  • Have a sound understanding of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (1999).
  • Support where required our Private Leakage workstream and/or Cartref programme.
  • Act as an initial point of escalation/support to other inspectors both within the team and wider teams on technical issues and customer enquiries.
  • Ensure you comply with all company Health and Safety Procedures with the safety of yourself, colleagues, contractors and customers always in mind and undertake additional H&S duties (e.g. Safety Conversations, Briefings, etc.).
  • Obtain and maintain your Water Safe accreditation and ensure you are up to date with all other mandatory company training.
  • Delivering a high standard of customer service in line with our company values.

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • 5 GCSE’s grades (or equivalent qualification) including English and Maths or experience in water distribution networks
  • Good Interpersonal Skills e.g. building a rapport, listening effectively to others
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Plumbing Qualification (NVQ 2 or equivalent)
  • Good communication skills e.g. clear and concise
  • IT Skills including Microsoft Office packages
  • Current, full valid UK driving licence

  • A company vehicle will be provided
  • Core working hours Monday – Friday (8:30 – 16:30)
  • The successful candidate must have the willingness to participate in standby rota if required
