St Nicholas C of E Primary School has an exciting opportunity for a Caretaker to join the team as soon as possible.

The hours are 6:30am to 9:00am Monday to Friday, 12.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 weeks during school closure periods (1 week in February & October Half Terms, 1 week in the Easter break & 2 weeks in the summer break).

Salary Scale 4, Point 7 (Range 7-8) Actual Salary: £8,622 per annum (including paid annual leave, which must be taken during school closure periods).

We are seeking to appoint a committed and conscientious Caretaker with high expectations, of themselves and of others, who will be passionate about the presentation and upkeep of our school.

Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Team player who works hard and takes pride in the appearance and maintenance of the school's premises and grounds
  • Enthusiastic, approachable, highly motivated and flexible individual possessing general building maintenance, cleaning and caretaking skills and understanding the confidential nature of working in a school environment
  • Basic level of IT skills to be used when recording data such as regular legionella checks
  • Good range of DIY skills such as basic electrical work, decorating, minor plumbing and carpentry
  • Good organisational and communication skills and the ability to show initiative as well as work as part of a team, liaising with staff, contractors and tradesmen
  • Awareness of COSHH, safe manual handling practices and Health and Safety
  • Expected to unlock, lock and alarm the site. Other duties may also include dealing with spillages, blockages, and any ad-hoc duties that may be required
  • Full driving licence and use of own car essential as you may be required to attend site outside of normal working hours
