A successful independent retailer is looking for a Buying Assistant in Solihull. The role involves placing orders, forecasting, and managing transfers. Candidates should demonstrate excellent attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A grade B in GCSE English and Maths is required, while experience in retail is beneficial. Farmfoods is a successful, independent retailer specialising in frozen food. We are renowned for excellent quality and great value, without compromise. There are over 340 Farmfoods shops in the UK and 4 distribution centres with a Commercial Office based in South Birmingham.
The Commercial Department is an essential part of our business and because of recent significant growth, we currently have a requirement for a full time Buying Assistant to support the fast-paced Commercial Team with all aspects of the daily operations. Our Commercial Team is responsible for selecting and managing a range of products and suppliers that service our shops, with a combined turnover over £1bn.
The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, be organised, have a high standard of numeracy and literacy and be able to work to deadlines. They will also have a proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint although will also be required to use an in-house software package. Full training will be provided.
The office is home to many of the company’s Directors and Senior Management Team so the successful candidate must be comfortable and confident dealing with people at all levels of seniority along with external stakeholders such as suppliers and customers.
We expect the successful candidate to have a good academic record, including grade B in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent). They should also have a good standard of further education, but a degree is not essential for this role. Some experience in a retail environment would be highly beneficial.
