Overview
Business Engineer role based in our Central Office, in Warwick, UK. The purpose of the role is to support, develop and grow the business in the region with all estimating and business development aspects of a bid, ensuring that value engineered, high quality, and competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the business strategy and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with key customers to support growth in ground improvement markets in the region (e.g., Vibro Stone Columns, Vibro Compaction, Dynamic Compaction, Dynamic Replacement, CMC rigid inclusions, Prefabricated Vertical Drains, etc.).
- Contact and visit key customers, build relationships, obtain feedback, and provide presentations.
- Organise and attend corporate events.
- Support award entries and the bid process to ensure tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner.
- Assist with design options and value solutions; identify project attractiveness based on sound estimating principles.
- Review tender documents (drawings, specifications, site investigation, client requirements) and submission requirements to evaluate all relevant bid information.
- Ensure innovative solutions are produced (liaising with the design team if necessary) and that all identified risks are mitigated.
- Prepare tender price schedules and documents with clear technical and financial proposals in line with pricing strategy and risk assessments; ensure cost plans reflect project requirements and risk profile.
- Maintain effective communication with customers during and after the bid process to maximise opportunities and build long-term relationships.
- Provide considered responses to customer questions, including post-tender queries.
- Ensure a smooth handover of bid documentation to project operation and commercial teams.
- In relation to site production, payments, and potential claims, gather feedback from commercial and operation teams and assist in resolving issues as needed.
- Ensure compliance with business strategy and authority levels; manage live projects where required and understand operational processes.
- Support delivery teams by verifying work and providing expert technical support, including site visits and customer meetings.
- Maintain personal expertise in ground engineering and stay updated with industry standards and technologies.
- Contribute to marketing materials (brochures, websites, data sheets).
- Maintain a relentless focus on safety – WORKSAFE/HOMESAFE.
Profile / Qualifications
- Degree in civil engineering or a geological subject; a valid CSCS card. Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE or GeolSoc) would be advantageous.
- Technical/engineering knowledge of ground engineering processes.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to form effective relationships under time pressure; customer-centric approach with ability to spot opportunities in invitations to tender.- Capability to manage and coach teams; address HR issues promptly and robustly.
- Strategic and creative insight to understand and pursue invitations to tender opportunities; experience leading technical aspects of work-winning bids.
- Desire to pursue innovation and development with a focus on customer and ground engineering business.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
