Leonardo offers a range of Apprenticeships from 2‑4 years across a variety of STEM and business routes, offering paid training coupled with on‑the‑job learning that enables you to gain practical skills, experience and knowledge that sets up a strong start to your career.
Whether leaving school or college with GCSEs/Standards, A levels or Highers (or equivalent) or in work and looking for a new career path, you are fully supported as you rotate within the business working on real‑time projects alongside highly skilled professionals who are passionate about their work. As you would expect from a globally renowned company, we offer competitive entry salaries and fully support your academic learning through to qualifications, so there is no need to get into debt. We support you settling into your new location, ensuring you are familiar with the team and have a warm welcome from day 1.
Leonardo values people who look to develop throughout their career and who are eager to learn. A successful apprenticeship with us involves a drive to deliver results, sometimes from your own initiative, a patience for problem‑solving, and a need to comply with safety instructions and clear process compliance at all times. We view commitment to the programme and learning objectives very highly.
Leonardo is an international leader in electronic and information technologies for defence systems, aerospace, data, infrastructures, land security and protection, and sustainable “smart” solutions. It is a continually expanding company, offering exciting opportunities to talented individuals who want to work at the forefront of technology. We hope that is you and look forward to you joining the team.
We need people who understand the importance of fulfilling the needs of our customers and company business objectives, and who are ready to embrace an ethos of continuous improvement and personal development through committing to a structured 2‑year learning programme. At the end of the programme, you will emerge as a highly qualified member of your team, equipped to contribute actively to the success of a variety of world‑leading projects.
During your apprenticeship you will study with one of our academic partners to complete a Business Level 3 Apprenticeship. You will achieve this qualification through a combination of day‑release plus experience in the workplace.
Through rotational placements you will gather real‑work evidence such as reflective accounts which describe day‑to‑day tasks you have completed and highlight the key business competencies demonstrated. You will gather this evidence, which demonstrates your development into a well‑rounded business person through on‑the‑job training, gaining the essential practical skills needed to succeed.
Following completion of placements, you will enter a final placement, increasingly focusing on one particular discipline. This targeted learning allows you to build on your skills and knowledge and to develop into a valuable member of the department, and will provide you with the final pieces of evidence required to move into the assessment phase and complete your Apprenticeship.
You will also work towards an SVQ in Business Management related to your on‑site experience and an HNC in Business at Edinburgh College.
The starting salary for this role is £21,000.
