Job summary

A local authority trading company in Sunderland is seeking an experienced property surveyor to join their Home Improvement Agency team. The position involves conducting property surveys, identifying defects, offering technical advice, and managing projects. Ideal candidates will have experience in construction and possess an HNC in construction or a degree in building surveying. Job description

Sunderland Care and Support is a local authority trading company owned by Sunderland City Council, which provides a wide range of services to support vulnerable adults and children to lead the lives they choose.

This is an opportunity to join a highly motivated and supportive team within the Home Improvement Agency. This team provides a service that supports customers to maintain, repair, adapt or extend their homes and manage projects in group homes or commercial buildings.

Applicants must have experience of working in the construction industry, be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of property repair, renovation, adaptation, have excellent communication and analytical skills and have one of the following:

  • An HNC in construction (or equivalent)
  • A degree in building surveying

The role will involve carrying out detailed property surveys, identifying building defects, giving technical advice, preparing schedules of work, preparing computer-generated plans, following a tender process, valuation of works, project management, carrying out site inspections, quality control, and authorising interim and final payments.

This is a busy but rewarding environment and the successful candidate must be a well‑organised self‑motivated individual who can work on their own initiative as well as being a part of the surveying team.
