This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of new construction projects in a dynamic and ambitious city. Education, arts, and culture have been central to recent developments, while the city is also a world leader in the fields of biotechnology and digital media. Dundee is the UK's first UNESCO City of Design, it was named the coolest little city in Britain by GQ magazine and described as one of seven cities to watch by CNN. The Building Standards Team has a key role in transforming the city and has been heavily involved in the delivery of the £1 billion project to transform Dundee into a world‑leading waterfront destination. A key component of this project was the successful delivery of the Kengo Kuma‑designed V&A Dundee, which has attracted international attention. Further exciting and complex construction development opportunities lie ahead, with some forming part of the £300 million Tay Cities Deal. The Eden Project Dundee is a further example of Dundee's bold and creative ambition. You will be part of this exciting journey, helping to facilitate these opportunities and ensure construction developments within the city are designed and built to meet safety standards, further sustainable development, and energy efficiency. You will be based in Dundee House, work full time, 37 hours per week.
You will have experience in all aspects of the Building Standards role, in the construction industry, sound knowledge of the Building Scotland Act and associated statutory instruments, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams). You will have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, prioritise workloads, meet challenges and deadlines, and be committed to a high standard of customer care with a methodical approach to problem solving and sound organisational skills. Commitment to further personal development and training is expected. A driving licence is required.
