A local council is seeking a self-motivated individual to fill the part-time role of Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. This home-based position requires 4 hours per week along with attendance at meetings, providing administrative support, and managing finances in compliance with legislation. Ideal candidates will have excellent administrative skills, knowledge of local council operations, and a professional approach to working with Councillors and residents.
Hours: 4 per week
Location: Home-based (with attendance at Council meetings as required)
Salary: In accordance with the NJC Salary Scales (dependent upon qualifications and experience)
Brettenham and Kilverstone Parish Council seeks to appoint a professional and self‑motivated individual to undertake the duties of Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). Brettenhan and Kilverstone Parish Council has 7 Councillors serving 350 residents.
The Parish Clerk is the Proper Officer of the Council and is responsible for ensuring that the instructions of the Council are carried out in accordance with its statutory obligations. As RFO, the postholder will be responsible for the proper administration of the Council’s finances in accordance with current legislation, accounting procedures and governance requirements.
This is a part‑time position of 4 hours per week, worked primarily from home, with attendance required at scheduled Parish Council meetings normally held on a Tuesday evening and bi‑monthly.
While these characteristics are desirable, training will be facilitated where necessary, and applications are welcome on that basis.
