Job summary

A leading educational institution in Broadstairs is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Breakfast Club Assistant to join their team. In this vital role, you'll supervise pupils during breakfast times, ensuring their safety and wellbeing while upholding school policies. Although prior experience isn't necessary, a genuine love for children is essential. You will be part of a supportive team focused on creating an extraordinary educational environment. This position offers 5 hours of work per week during term time from Monday to Friday, ensuring a fulfilling role in the community.

Qualifications

  • Current first aid certificate or willingness to train required.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and able to communicate effectively with children.

Responsibilities

Job description

Are you a caring, enthusiastic person who is looking for an opportunity to bring your experience toan outstanding staff team at Upton Junior School? If so, you could be just the person we need to join our dedicated Breakfast Club team. We currently have a vacancy for a Breakfast Club Assistant.

You will be required to help set up the dining hall and supervise pupils during the meal time period, minimising disruption, ensuring their wellbeing and maintaining their safety within school guidelines and policies. An understanding of the importance of the need for safeguarding the health and wellbeing of all pupils within the school and upholding the school's policies and procedures, in regards to child protection and safeguarding, is an essential requirement for the role.

Whilst experience is not a necessity, a genuine interest in children is - you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first. Children will be at the heart of your work; you must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.

The ideal candidate will
  • Be able to use initiative to deal with any issues that arise and adapt to situations accordingly
  • Have a keen interest in learning and a willingness to engage in training
  • A high level of motivation, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Good interpersonal skills enabling effective communication with children and colleagues
  • An awareness of how to ensure the safeguarding of our children
  • A current first aid certificate or the willingness to train
  • A capacity to show initiative when encouraging children to engage in play activities
  • A positive rapport with colleagues and children
