Job summary

A public safety organization in Wales is seeking a Deputy Chair for the inaugural Board of the Disused Tips Authority for Wales. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to environmental resilience and community safety. Responsibilities include setting the strategic direction and ensuring governance. Disused Tips Authority for Wales

Join the inaugural Board of the Disused Tips Authority for Wales, a new Arm’s Length Body that will begin operating on 1 April 2027.

This is an opportunity to help shape a new organisation from its earliest stages, contributing to work that will help keep communities across Wales safe from the risks associated with disused coal and non‑coal tips.

The Authority will lead a proactive, national approach to the assessment, registration, monitoring and management of disused tips.

Working closely with the newly appointed Chair, Board Members and the Deputy Chair will help set the strategic direction, ensure strong governance, and support the Authority to carry out its statutory responsibilities with integrity, transparency and ambition.

Remuneration & Commitment

Deputy Chair: £311 per day

Up to 4 days per month during the first two years, reducing thereafter

Roles are non‑pensionable; reasonable expenses reimbursed
