This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to gain experience in a busy clinical laboratory within a large acute Trust.
The microbiology laboratory is situated in a purpose‑built facility, is well‑equipped, fully computerised, holds UKAS accreditation and is an IBMS registered training laboratory. We currently offer diagnostic microbiology to University Hospital Dorset and other healthcare providers from one laboratory based in the new Dorset Pathology Hub at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The configuration of the Microbiology service across Dorset is currently under review with a vision to provide a Dorset‑wide service supported by laboratories based at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and at Dorset County Hospital.
The position is for a band 5 or band 6 Biomedical Scientist, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Candidates should have as a minimum, current HCPC registration and previous experience of working in an NHS Microbiology laboratory. There will be the opportunity to work in all sections of the department and will receive full training and support relevant to their level of experience.
