A leading international law firm in Cheltenham seeks an experienced legal biller for a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. This role involves processing legal bills, training team members, and handling billing-related queries. Candidates should have experience in a UK law firm and a thorough understanding of financial knowledge related to VAT and disbursements. The position offers a hybrid working model and an attractive remuneration package.
Full time. Fixed term (over 1 year). Based Cheltenham or London(Hybrid - 3 days in office).
To cover for a period of maternity leave commencing next spring, weare looking for a experienced legal biller to join our Billing Team onan interim basis. We would like this role to have a comfortablehandover at the start and end, so we are looking for someone to joinin January or February. The contract is likely to last at least 14 months.
This is primarily an operational role and you will be expected toprocess legal bills alongside the other 4 team members. As a supervisor you will not be a formal line manager, but you will alsohave responsibilities to train, develop and oversee the work of yourteam members, acting as a sounding board and escalation point whereneeded as a subject matter expert . As such this is a greatopportunity for an experienced and technically strong legal billerlooking to develop their people management skills.
Your billing duties will include:
Experience of working in a billing role in a UK law firm is anessential requirement for this role as you need not only generalfinancial knowledge relating to VAT and disbursements etc, it is alsoessential that you have a thorough working knowledge and experience ofapplying the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
You will also need great people skills, both to help support anddevelop your colleagues and to be able to adapt your style to theneeds and expectations of different partners.
