Description

Priory Newhouse Kilmarnock is looking to recruit a Bank Senior Support Worker Days or Nights to join the team. This is a bank role. Newhouse is located in the semi‑rural village of Hurlford, near Kilmarnock, Scotland. Our home offers residential support for 22 adults with a primary learning disability diagnosis, who may also have physical health needs, or be on the autism spectrum.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents’ wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of residents.

  • The role holder will make a significant personal contribution to the overall development of the service ensuring day to day issues and incidents are appropriately resolved and reported according to policy and procedures, referring more complex and serious matters to senior management as appropriate.
  • Supervise and support the delivery of person‑centred support and care, ensuring that the people who use our service have any personal needs or requirements met; including personal care, participation in activities and support with daily living tasks.
  • Supervise support workers in delivery and supports people who use our service in achieving their outcomes in the way that they choose.
  • Support staff in own team to maintain effective professional relationships with the people who use the service, their families, colleagues, outside agencies and other professionals, referring any issues to senior staff as appropriate.
  • Act as a positive role model, provide effective supervision and guidance for own team contributing to their performance and professional development.

What you'll bring to the role

You should hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or a related area, or an equivalent or higher recognised qualification. You must have at least an NVQ Level 2 and be prepared to begin the process of achieving Level 3 within six months of joining, with a specific timeframe to complete this qualification. Previous experience in a care or supported living role is important, as communication and personal interaction are key aspects of this position. You may be required to support individuals who use challenging behaviours to express their needs or frustrations. Additionally, you will contribute both verbally and in writing to service user reviews and support planning.
