Job Overview

The following list reflects typical duties that the post holder could be expected to undertake. This is not an exhaustive list, and may be subject to change, by mutual agreement, to meet the changing needs and requirements of the service. Training and support will be provided where required.

Core Duties
  • Provide urgent dental care for patients who have been unable to access treatment with a general dental practitioner following a triage process, to include but not limited to: Undertaking comprehensive assessments, diagnosis and treatment planning including any required special investigations.
  • Provision of treatment to address the presenting complaint in line with NHS guidelines for urgent treatment, where possible within the allocated appointment or to plan for the treatment to be completed.
  • Complete referrals for ongoing care for patients where necessary.
  • Complete high quality contemporaneous digital records.
  • Provide immediate care in the case of a medical emergency.
  • Provide leadership to the immediate team including dental nurse and reception staff in cases where management team unavailable or not on site.
  • Hold responsibility for securing the building at the end of the clinical session.
  • General provision of services on more than one site as dictated by service requirements.
  • Take part in personal development and appraisal.
  • Take part in clinical audit, peer review and any other clinical governance requirements as required.
  • Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development and mandatory training relevant to the requirements of the service.

This post involves working with children and vulnerable adults and will require a DBS check. Maintain a safe working environment complying with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Care Quality Commission and the policies of Livewell Southwest.
