A local healthcare provider is seeking a Band 6 Children’s Community Learning Disability Team member in Stockport. This full-time role involves managing care for children and families, conducting behavioral assessments, and developing care plans. Ideal candidates should have prior experience with children and young people with learning disabilities and a full driving license. We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Children’s Community Learning Disability Team to join our well established dynamic, forward thinking and friendly Children’s Community Learning Disability Team. The post is 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday. You must be enthusiastic and motivated and have prior experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Due to this being a community role, it is essential you have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle. In return we can offer you clinical/peer supervision, support from the wider children’s community nursing service, line management by the children’s community LD team leader and opportunities to develop professionally.
The post will require working with children and families on an individual basis, managing a case load and delivering programmes of care. A range of community work will be undertaken, including specialist behavioural assessments to formulate interventions, strategies and positive behaviour support plans. The post holder will contribute and facilitate parent training programmes such as “Riding the Rapids”. Training of other professionals is also essential for this role. The post holder will be required to work primarily in the family home, but also in other settings such as school or hospital. Highly developed communication and problem‑solving skills are necessary, along with resilience and emotional intelligence to work in emotionally challenging situations. The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines is essential. Good organisational skills, reporting skills and writing outcome‑focused care plans is required.
