Job overview

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Acute and Community Hospitals Base

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Practitioner post to support our highly specialised team of Pelvic Health physiotherapists working cross-site within the Acute and CommunityMSK Teams.

The Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service works both with our partnership organisation, and other local providers, to assess and treat patients with a range of acute and chronic Pelvic Health conditions, including ante and postnatal, post operative urogynaecology, oncology, and bowel dysfunction. The teams work very closely with the consultant body and multidisciplinary team, to ensure patients follow our pathways of care based on current research evidence and NICE guidelines.

Main duties of the job

You will work across the pelvic health service in both acute and community teams, supporting physiotherapists to deliver high‑quality care in line with Trust values. As part of your competency programme, you will review and progress patient treatment following agreed protocols and pathways. Once competencies and the Apprenticeship Award are achieved, you will lead urogynae and antenatal education classes, provide follow‑up, and act as first contact for prostatectomy assessments.

Data collection will be central to the role, supporting monitoring of outcomes, patient feedback, service evaluation, and innovation. You will also contribute to local health and safety monitoring through service audits.

You will receive structured supervision to achieve required competencies through work‑based learning and education. Alongside this, you will complete a fully funded two‑year qualification. Working with the Trust Education Department, course providers, and physiotherapy supervisors, you will progress from a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant on a Trust Apprenticeship contract (Level 5) toward Band 4 competencies. Successful completion of the foundation degree and competencies will enable transition to a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner role.

The ideal applicant will hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above, the Care Certificate, and 2 years’ Band 3 clinical experience. Flexibility, independent travel, and strong communication and IT skills are essential.

Working for our organisation

A wide range of staff benefits are available to our staff including staff development, enrolment in the NHS pension scheme, auto‑enrolment to our Temporary Workforce Service, access to onsite nurseries, staff restaurants and accommodation.

In addition to an internal Occupational Health department, all staff also have access to free psychological support through our confidential Employee Assistance Programme. Onsite parking is available from only £50 a year.
