Associate Mechanical Engineer

Join to apply for the Associate Mechanical Engineer role at Tetra Tech Europe.

As we win new work our workload increases, which means we have an exciting opportunity to join our established Belfast Engineering team. You will have responsibility for design and management of mechanical building services projects in complex buildings, including refurbishing existing buildings. In some cases, you will be part of a larger team on major projects, as well as managing your own projects.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the delivery of engineering design solutions encompassing all aspects of mechanical building services engineering consultancy
  • End to end process taking designs from concept to site and through commissioning
  • Carry out calculations and co-ordinate mechanical services to a high level of accuracy
  • Work within a team delivering complex and large scale projects
  • Work across a number of sectors including, commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education and leisure within both public and private domains
  • Mentor and support the development of junior members of staff including Graduates and Apprentices
  • Understanding of contractual matters, project management, managing team and change control
About You

You will be expected to have a relevant education and experience in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and be a member of the CIBSE, IMechE, IET or equivalent professional body, although relevant design experience would be considered.

  • Ability to handle meetings with Clients and Contractors through all project stages
  • Relevant experience in design and supervision of projects
  • Either Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status
  • Relevant experience in design and management of projects
  • Experience in the health, education and/or defence sectors would be beneficial
  • Current driving licence
  • Ability to work within a team on major complex projects throughout the UK
  • Experience in AutoCAD, National Engineering Spec (NES) and Microsoft Office
  • REVIT experience welcomed
  • Understanding of IES or other thermal modelling software
  • Energy Assessor capability would be welcomed
  • Understanding of BREEAM on M&E Services
  • Understanding of Hevacomp or other calculation software
  • Willingness to travel for project work within UK and Ireland is essential
  • Willingness to travel for project work worldwide on short periods is welcomed
  • Willingness to obtain necessary Security Clearances is beneficial
