Overview

Associate Director- Quantity Surveyor role at Tetra Tech. Tetra Tech’s Cost Consultancy provides high quality cost advice on capital and whole life cost with a growing focus on carbon reduction. We are seeking an Associate Director to lead and grow our commercial team in the West Midlands, based in our Birmingham office. Reporting directly to the Regional Director, you will be part of a high-performance multi-disciplinary team delivering cost advice to design colleagues and clients. You will oversee project delivery (large residential projects), manage the commercial team in the West Midlands, and support the operational part of the team. You will deliver technical excellence and promote learning opportunities for staff. You will be a professional qualified individual who supports others in their development.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing a team of cost managers
  • Employer’s Agent and/or Contract Administration duties for a variety of projects in residential, advanced manufacturing, aviation and other private sectors
  • Leading in all aspects of Cost Management
  • Business development and business planning
  • Development of cost plans for complex projects using CostX estimating software
  • Advising design colleagues on the cost implications of alternative design options
  • Monthly reporting on P&L
  • Leading value engineering and risk workshops and providing strategic cost advice
  • Providing procurement strategy advice to clients
  • Delivering the full range of construction stage cost management services
  • Building relationships with design colleagues, client stakeholders and the contractor
  • Full membership of the RICS / CIOB or +10 years’ experience in a specialist subject area
  • Experience of CostX or similar estimating software with Revit models
  • Experience of working on major projects (£50m+)
  • Ideally experienced in cost management of NEC3/4 and JCT construction contracts
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to manage cost reporting meetings with senior client representatives
  • Strong leadership skills and collaborative approach with large technical teams
  • Ability to deliver to deadlines
  • Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Word)
  • UK driving licence
  • Be willing to complete S/C level of security clearance on appointment (to assist Defence Sector)
