Job summary

Location: Sheffield / London / Hybrid Working

(Expectation that you will attend an office 2 days per week)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week/flexible days and/or hours (Mon-Fri)

Band: Up to £77,500 depending on experience

THE ROLE

In this role you will lead a team of colleagues and oversee strategic embedding of data and metadata processes and capabilities. These will include critical data identification and monitoring, lineage tracing, data domain management, data model management, data taxonomies and reference data operations, strategic data sourcing.

You will be responsible for building and managing a set of master data and metadata control capabilities to ensure that:

  • Systems of record are established and are fit for purpose
  • Data is well defined and fully understood; risks in the data landscape are identified and managed
  • Data can be consumed, with confidence in their integrity and lineage
  • The organisation has confidence in the data available
  • Emphasis is given to the most mission‑critical data, based on risk and value

The role will require you to establish close and effective collaboration with partner Data Governance team to report on metrics/ oversight of core data and metadata processes; plus with Data Quality team; and additionally, Data Architecture and Data Engineering teams for interlock with core design and builds of services.

With extensive practical experience as a Metadata and Data Management leader and/ or Architect, you will have successfully implemented metadata and data processes in financial services or government bodies and have current working knowledge of industry best practice eg DAMA/EDMC. Knowledge and experience of implementing and working with latest Microsoft and industry data tooling is also essential.
