Position

Based in Solihull, the role of Assistant Warehouse Manager is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operations of the warehouse/logistics sector, contributing significantly to the company’s success.

This position plays a crucial role in coordinating and optimising warehouse activities, which directly impact team collaboration and the achievement of company goals.

Major innovations in warehouse management systems, automation, and demand present challenges and opportunities for Assistant Warehouse Managers to excel.

Key stakeholders for this role include warehouse staff, logistics team, procurement department, and senior management, positioning this role at the centre of the company’s operational structure.

Success in this role is measured by efficiency metrics, inventory accuracy, on‑time deliveries, cost control, and overall warehouse performance.

Specific responsibilities
  • Ensure customer SLA and internal KPI are met through daily monitoring and jeopardy management screens.
  • Ensure all warehouse staff adhere to the generic processes and checks and the Quality Dam.
  • Accountable for inventory accuracy and integrity.
  • Proactively monitor inventory processes through spot checks.
  • Where possible provide analytical analysis of performance metrics.
  • To employ root cause analysis of failures and suggest corrective actions / highlight continuous improvements.
  • To review processes in line with improving efficiency and accuracy of inventory.
  • To align system inventory with our customers systems.
  • To liaise with off‑site storage facilities on the management and accuracy.
  • Occasional travel required in the carrying out of duties.
  • Take a leading role in planning and conducting inventory audits.
  • Ensure all processes and practices comply to Company/Site procedures, Health & Safety and ISO9002 procedures.
  • Develop, encourage, and maintain high work standards and professionalism.
  • Ensure all non‑conformances are answered within the agreed timescale and that lack of responses are escalated to appropriate team for resolutions.
  • The day‑to‑day support in managing the warehouse operations, to ensure all activities are covered. Moving staff to ensure peaks and troughs in workload are managed.
  • Ensure customer SLA and internal KPI are met through daily monitoring and jeopardy management screens.
  • Ensure daily movement checks are carried out to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Ensure that all Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental processes are fully adhered to in line with Company Accreditations, Objectives and Policies.
  • Support group leader with conducting 5S Audits.
  • Embrace the principles of 5S.
  • Ensure that the health & safety of the business is always adhered to, including the safety of work colleagues, customers and suppliers in accordance with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy, Manual and documentation.
  • To ensure that hazardous substances are maintained in a controlled manner in accordance with COSHH.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in warehouse management systems, inventory control software, Microsoft Excel, RFID technology, and knowledge of supply chain automation tools.
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. Certification in Warehouse Management is a plus.
  • Experience Level: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in warehouse operations, with proven leadership skills in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and leadership abilities. Adaptability to fast‑paced environments and a strong focus on teamwork.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of warehouse safety regulations, inventory management principles, lean methodologies, and familiarity with industry‑specific challenges.
  • Telecommunications: Passion for telecoms industry, especially the circular economy and ESG.
  • Continuous improvement: Demonstrated success in scaling warehouse operations.
