Assistant Technical Manager

Hours

Core hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm (Some flexibility is required as part of the role).

The role involves:

  • To provide support and guidance for the management team on technical excellence. To liaise with departments to drive improvements in product quality and food safety standards.
  • To take an active role in the development and maintenance of the Quality Management Plan (QMS) and HACCP systems actively promoting adherence to Quality, Food Safety, GMP and HACCP standards.
  • To manage internal and external audits, conduct supplier compliance inspection. To provide root cause analysis of information on any non-conformances and corrective action plans. Ensure corrective action plans are followed up.
  • To maintain strong relationships with customers and the Competent Authorities. To manage contractors such as pest control.
  • To investigate and respond to customer complaints. To perform trend analysis for complaints and customer KPI’s. To act on and correct any adverse trends.
  • Maintain systems for checking, validating and verifying process compliance, validate QA & QC function to ensure they are meeting set requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate intervention/action takes place as required when a failure occurs in any areas ensuring action points are taken and results communicated to relevant areas.
  • Ensure that production of products comply with the quality & legal standards and requirements of relevant UK and export customers, including Weights & Measures.
  • Managing the QA and QC team ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Including the team’s timekeeping and attendance taking any action if required.
  • Identifying and facilitating any training needs or development requirements within the QA and QC team. To deliver food safety/quality training when required across all levels of the business.
  • Take an active role in OPEX to drive continuous improvement across the site.
  • Deputise in the absence of site Technical Manager and Technical Admin as and when required.
