Job description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Service Manager to join our busy DAF HGV main dealership. Working alongside the Service Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day operations of our workshop and service desk, ensuring exceptional service for our customers and maximum efficiency across the department.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial vehicle service experience who is ready to take the next step in their career within a respected and fast-paced dealership environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Service Manager in overseeing the workshop, technicians, and service advisors within a high-volume DAF dealership.
  • Ensure all HGV service, maintenance, and repair work is scheduled effectively to maximise workshop productivity.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customers, providing clear communication and excellent service throughout the repair process.
  • Assist with warranty procedures, job card accuracy, invoicing, and manufacturer compliance.
  • Manage daily workflow, allocate jobs, and monitor progress to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
  • Handle escalated customer issues professionally, ensuring quick and effective resolution.
  • Support and motivate the service team, encouraging a strong culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of DAF brand representation and ensure all processes follow manufacturer and dealership guidelines.
What we are looking for
  • Previous experience in a commercial vehicle or HGV dealership service environment (DAF experience highly advantageous).
  • Strong working knowledge of HGV repair processes, workshop operations, and service administration.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Strong organisational abilities with the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and support a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with DAF Check, RMI platforms, Kerridge (desirable).
  • Ability to problem solve and maintain professionalism under pressure.
